Mahahual is the fastest growing area in the Costa Maya area just south of the well known area of Tulum. It is currently four hours from the Cancun airport by car, or a quick small plane hop of 1 hour. A new international airport has just begun construction in early 2008 just south of Tulum, which when finished will shorten the drive by 2 hours.

Mahahual is currently undergoing an entire renovation following Hurricane Dean in 2007. As sometimes happens, weather has advanced an already-in-the-works plan, and so the new boardwalk along the ocean that was planned for 2012 , and moving the businesses back from the beach area to allow the construction of a boulevard that is only for pedestrians, has commenced. The first phase will finish by the end of 2008.

Cruise ships will again dock at the Costa Maya destination beginning this Fall, and this region will advance 4 years earlier than projected. Nature works in mysterious ways! We have spent the past 3 years getting to know owners of larger tracts of land, as well as individual lots, and searching for investments free of paperwork problems. In this region this is a specific concern.
